What is the B.R.I.T.T. Program?

The B.R.I.T.T. (Bringing Restorative Interventions To Teens) Program is an alternative high school education for students that have been suspended or expelled for violent acts or threats. Students are provided an alternative structure to gain the skills needed to return to their home school and be successful.

This program, under the umbrella of the Safe Schools, Healthy Students Initiative, provides academics, anger management skills, social skills training, family and drug/alcohol education, individual and family counseling, and other interventions. These interventions attempt to increase school re-entry, reduce involvement in criminal and delinquent behavior, and alter student’s attitudes toward violence as a solution to conflict.

  • The re-entry program is an individualized program that is tailored to the needs of the students, working to increase their academics, social skills and other services that includes families
  • Research-based curriculum is used to teach students new skills to reduce acts of aggression and violence and replace behaviors with appropriate social skills
  • Structured academics are provided by a certificated instructor
  • The B.R.I.T.T. Program is located at the Skills Center, 4141 N. Regal
  • The program is divided into two 2 ½ hour sessions: 8:30-11:00 and 12:00-2:30 Monday through Friday
  • Students attend approximately 12-18 weeks transitioning back to their home high school
  • A transition plan is developed collaboratively by resident school representative and Britt staff
